About JennI am a Certified Reiki Master and ordained Minister. I am an advocate in the LGBTQ+ community and ally in several circles. I am interested in dismantling systems of oppression collectively and individually. I am here to build new paradigms based on love and wholeness—which requires reconciliation and forgiveness. I am sharing what I learn and practice along my journey.
I came to the metaphysical understanding that our body can restore itself through my mother and her interests. She and I are angel lovers and seek to share that light with others. She took me to my first Whole Life Expo when I was 18 or 19. I learned there were others like me and I wanted to absorb as much as I could. It was other-worldly and yet incredibly familiar on a visceral level. Then I went on a journey (like many of us do) and found myself answering the call to ministry looking to serve in the denomination in which I was raised: The Swedenborgian Church of N. America. My mother was raised in this tradition and it’s also my father’s lineage. We (father’s lineage) can trace our roots back to 1830 in this tradition. There are several generations of Ministers in our family (both sides of lineage); however, that’s not how I got to where I am. If anything—I actively fought this lineage until I could no longer say no to God. I recognized that my rebelliousness against my family lineage was futile against the Creator of the universe. I recognized my call to ministry lived beyond the denomination in which I was raised and yet that is where I was being called to serve. I knew there was a part of me looking to serve God or Spirit but not sure how—beyond the traditional understanding of ministry. I’ve been on the journey of integrating the Minister aspect and the aspect that is interested in how the body can restore itself for years. I have a deep and intuitive knowledge of cosmic truths, an ability to “see” beyond veils, the ability to help others understand how the body restores itself, and a desire to be of service. I can no longer hide as we live in time where restoration, balance, and love are all needed on cellular and community levels. Integration not separation is the key to life and wholeness. Throughout my experience in ministry and the training leading up to ordination, I listened for God’s guidance—that is a given, right? However, it felt confined in a lot of ways based on a traditional setting or model—even in a tradition that is fairly open-minded. Because I am also a metaphysical practitioner, I have been open to God/Source/Spirit in a variety of ways. It is in my desire for continued education, practice, and meeting new people that I have opened up to more direct experiences with God. My call to ministry continues to guide me as I know deep in my heart and soul that serving a community is imperative—understanding that my definition of community is expanding. Wholeness and wellness in a community begins with the individual and yet we are called to be healthy and accountable to our friends and neighbors. This is where my desire for justice and addressing systems of oppression come in to play. A new paradigm is emerging and yet it cannot fully emerge and integrate on a community level until we address the wounds and negligence of a system built on oppression. Restorative justice seeks acknowledgement, accountability, reconciliation and more in order for healing to occur. I hope to be part of the healing individually and collectively—to help ground people in authenticity and the ability to thrive. I am a certified Reiki Master. I received my Master of Divinity from Pacific School of Religion in 2005. I received my Certificate in Clinical Pastoral Education from UC San Francisco in 2005. I was ordained in 2007. I received the Intersection Award from the LBGT Resource Center at Michigan State University in 2017. I now have my ministerial credentials in the United Church of Christ after successfully going through the Privilege of Call process and answering a call to serve in ministry as a hospice chaplain in Metro Detroit. |
